This project was developed within the MAP/making project (Music, Arts and Performance). It explores how Asian female identity is gradually formed through being seen, labeled, and shaped by culture. With skin, trace, and boundary as its core concepts, the work examines how identity is inscribed onto the surface of the body, how it accumulates traces through growth and lived experience, and how it is continually divided between public image and private self. Through moving image, writing, and material manipulation, the project reflects on how traces settle on the body’s surface and are continuously accumulated and transformed between public image and private identity. It seeks to express that identity is not fixed, but is constantly constructed and reconstructed through external standards, cultural experience, and self-adjustment.
